Generation Summaries

Warning! Spoilers Ahead!

This link is for if you just found my legacy, but don't want to have to read all of my previous chapters to catch up (although I would obviously love it if you did). Each summary includes all the relevant plot information for the generation without all the unnecessary stuff that I add in. They're still fairly long, but they take much less time to read than the actual generations.

Generation 1 - Nyx Doe and Leighton Sekemoto

Nyx Doe was born Annalise Porter, daughter of Bridgeport crime lord Chance Porter. She was raised to take over his empire, but she was never suited to it. She was a great disappointment to her father, who decided when she was a teenager that he would have to marry her off to someone who would be able to run the business for her. That someone was Lee Sekemoto, the son of one of his employees. Annalise wasn't a huge fan of the idea until she met Lee. Then she fell head over heels. Unfortunately, Lee didn't reciprocate the feelings. Lee was in love with Annalise's bodyguard, Ilyana. Annalise wasn't happy about it, but she helped them keep their relationship a secret... that is, until Ilyana found out she was pregnant and she and Lee fled into the night. Annalise stayed in contact with them while her father had her under house arrest, and warned them whenever the people looking for them got too close. She kept this up for years, until Lee told her that he and Ilyana were getting married. Then she snapped and told her father where they were. She regretted it afterward and warned them, but Ilyana was captured and killed. Lee and his son, Sam, escaped to his mother's house in Sunset Valley. Annalise, now calling herself Nyx Doe, escaped and followed them.

When she got there, she became a thief for lack of options. Her guilt over what she did to Lee and Ilyana haunted her, and she had nightmares. Finally, she got up the nerve to go to Lee and tell him what she'd done. He forgave her, and they became friends, which eventually morphed into more. He and Sam moved in with her, and she found out she was pregnant shortly after that. Lee asked her to marry him, but she refused, citing her false name. She had a baby boy, named Dylan, but Lee remained distant. After Dylan was born, Nyx quit her job. She'd always hated it, and Lee had a job to support them. She then slowly stopped leaving the house, until eventually she refused to ever leave or let strangers into the house. She thought she felt Lee pulling away from her, so she decided they should have another baby, knowing he wouldn't leave her while they still had kids in the house. That led up to their daughter, Ayla, being born.

When her son, Dylan, turned thirteen, he decided that he wanted to bring some friends over for his birthday. When he brought them inside the house, Nyx had a complete mental breakdown. She was sent to a mental hospital to try to get back to her old self.

Generation 2 - Dylan Doe

When Dylan became a young adult, he joined the police force, hoping to someday become a forensic specialist. He then met and fell for a somewhat mysterious woman named Tara. They had several awkward dates, and he asked her to move in with him. Meanwhile, Dylan had been put on a tricky case at work. A new crime ring had moved into Sunset Valley, and was causing previously unseen levels of havoc. The only clue available to him was that said crime ring all had dragon tattoos. Then, Tara finds out that she's pregnant and agrees to move in with Dylan. They have triplets, Alaric, Jade, and Beckett, but Tara disappears as soon as the children are born. He asks his sister, Ayla, to try and find her for him. In the meantime, he throws himself into his work, but is frustrated when nothing really adds up. Finally, Ayla gets back to him to tell him that Tara never really existed, and whoever she was, she was living under a false name. Dylan then remembers that his mother had a dragon tattoo like the ones on the gang members and asks his dad about it. Lee gives Dylan the information he needs to track down the criminals, who seem to be tied to Nyx's father's crime ring. When he gets to their hideout, he is shocked to find that the crime boss is none other than Tara, who was actually his grandfather's protegee. She wanted to get an heir of the Porter bloodline, and sent her second-in-command to kidnap one of the triplets. However, Ayla, who Dylan had asked to watch the kids, knocked him out. Dylan's coworkers then burst into the room and surround Tara, but she blows up the house and the police barely escape. Tara appears to have been caught in the blast.

Generation 3 - Alaric and Madeline Doe

After Madeline chose Beckett over him, Alaric threw himself into his new job as mayor of Sunset Valley. As such, it was a nasty shock when he discovered that Madeline had been hired as his new personal assistant. He was still fixated on Madeline, and he paid close attention to everything she did. After she had a particularly unpleasant argument with Beckett, he showed her sympathy, and they began an affair. However, Madeline's guilt led her to break it off, at least until she fought with Beckett again. Then she finally left Beckett for Alaric, and brought her son Jonah with her. She and Alaric had a daughter named Amanda, and their relationship became public, ruining Alaric's political career in Sunset Valley. They then moved to Midnight Hollow, where Alaric continued his political career and Madeline picked up a job teaching figure skating. Midnight Hollow was actually a town full of supernaturals, which the Does were entirely oblivious of. Madeline gets pregnant again (which results in a daughter named Willow), and is frustrated with Alaric, who works constantly. Alaric is absorbed in his rivalry with Odessa Winchester, and eventually has a short-lived affair with her. That affair results in a daughter named Serena, which Madeline almost leaves him over. She finally agrees to stay with him for the sake of their reputation, and they have one more child, a son named Felix. In the meantime, Alaric is running for vice president as the running mate of John Doe, and his reputation has been taking a beating because of all the scandal surrounding his family. John is blaming Alaric for all of this and has put him on a tight leash. They win the election, but then John is murdered and Alaric becomes the prime suspect. He blames Odessa for the death and his framing, as she is next in line to be President after the two of them. Alaric is forced to resign and confronts Odessa, who reveals the John's wife Jane is the real murderer, but the damage has been done. Alaric has resigned and his relationship with Madeline is all but destroyed.
